Support with transitioning out of military service leads to success in securing a civilian role in HR
Our Client Profile
When our client came to talk to us he was at a crossroads in his career, having been in military service for a significant length of time which was about to come to an end following the defence review and service cut backs. As a Commissioned Officer in the Royal Air Force, he was involved in front line personnel management and hoped to find a career that would make use of his professional experience. He had identified Human Resources as a possible career, but with little knowledge of the profession, didn’t know which direction to take.
Our solution
Having had a discussion with our client, and reviewed his CV we helped him to identify where he might fit into the HR profession and what training and accreditation would support this. He enrolled on our CIPD Intermediate Certificate in HR Management, delivered over an intensive 5 week course.
Their outcome
The programme provided our client with up to date, relevant, best practice knowledge of the HR function and how this relates to the wider business environment. In addition to completing the qualification, we also referred him to the local CIPD branch for support and career coaching.
Their achievements
After completing our CIPD Intermediate qualification, the client was appointed almost immediately into a role with Wakefield Metropolitan District Council as an Engagements Officer, delivering a new HR IT system across the organisation.
Their legacy
When this fixed term contract finished, he secured a permanent role with Royal Mail Group as a Senior HR Advisor currently working for the Parcelforce and International operations business units for Royal Mail.
Our client has since returned to study further and is currently undertaking our CIPD Advanced Diploma in HR Management.
