Our client profile
Gray and Adams (Doncaster) is a family owned company, and has maintained a traditional approach to their business of manufacturing a range of vehicles including refrigerated trailers, rigid bodies, and twin and lifting deck trailers, insulated side access loading trailers, mobile shop facilities and prisoner escort vehicles. There was a need to down-size the Doncaster Depot and the business needed support with managing a redundancy programme.
Our solution
As part of a wider package of support, we worked closely with the Senior Management Team to facilitate the down-size and coached the team in managing the ‘people’ aspects of the exercise. We developed a project timeline, facilitated the development of a redundancy selection process, supported and advised senior managers in how to apply the criteria across the affected areas, provided coaching to the SMT to enable them to confidently undertake consultation with ‘at risk’ employees and provided administrative support such as standard letters and other correspondence.
Their outcome
The downsizing programme was successful with the necessary headcount reduction recognised. Despite their initial resistance to getting involved, the SMT grew in confidence through the coaching process and were able to deal effectively with the scenario.
